How to Bid
Once you find an item you're interested in, it's easy to place a bid. Carefully review the auction to determine the starting bid,
bid increments, and any other special considerations. Then establish a bid you are comfortable with. All bids are made in U.S. dollars –
no other currency is accepted.
Placing a bid:
When placing a bid, you can bid in small increments or place a maximum bid. A bid can be placed once you are logged in to the Graham
Iron auction system. If placing a maximum bid the Graham Iron system will incrementally bid for you up to your
maximum. If the item sells for less than your maximum bid you only pay one increment above the next highest bidder.
Maximum bidding:
Maximum bidding is optimal if you can’t be online around the close of an auction. As with all bidding on Graham Iron, your maximum bid is never
released to other bidders, and the Graham Iron auction system will only use as much of your maximum bid amount as is necessary to maintain your
position as high bidder. Keep in mind that you can increase – but not decrease – your maximum bid amount at a later time.
Bid increments:
Graham Iron’s bidding system is based on increments. A bid increment is the amount by which a bid will be raised each time the current bid is outdone.
A bid can only be placed in the proper increments. The increment will vary for each auction, so review the details carefully.
With our automatic bidding system, once you enter your high bid, no further action is required unless you are outbid.
Being outbid:
When another buyer places a higher maximum bid, you’ve been outbid and need to enter a new maximum bid if you still wish to purchase
the item. Sometimes, you'll be outbid as soon as you enter your bid, even though the bid you entered was higher than the current bid
shown on the item listing. If this happens, you will have the opportunity to place another bid. You will be told immediately upon placing
a bid if you are the current high bidder.
Winning an auction:
If you have the highest bid at the close of an auction, you have won the item. This constitutes as an agreement to purchase the item,
and payment should be arranged promptly.
